Since January of 2006, listeners have enjoyed the best of independent Chillout music on The Chillcast with Anji Bee, a smooth and sophisticated mix of Electronica, Jazz, Soul, and World Music. The show actually traces its roots back to the early part of the decade, and Anji’s Live365 stations The Lovely Ladies of Electronica, and Chillcuts Radio (which can still be heard by premium members there). In addition to the smoothest music on the planet, The Chillcast with Anji Bee features artist interviews and other special segments, extended DJ mixes and even occasional CD giveaway contests. It’s been nominated twice as best music podcast in the People’s Choice Podcast Awards, and was recently selected as one of Cyber PR’s Top 100 picks for the Indie Maximum Exposure List.

The great tunes come with great offers for her listeners too. Since March of 2006, The Chillcast with Anji Bee has been offering savings to listeners on domain names, website hosting and more with promo codes for GoDaddy.com through her affiliation with the MEVIO Network. According to Anji, the relationship has been a positive one. “GoDaddy has been supporting me practically since I launched The Chillcast and I just love them to death.” Anji notes that she uses GoDaddy for all of her own websites because of their low prices and friendly customer service. In addition to GoDaddy, she now offers more than half a dozen other opportunities for savings on The Chillcast and her other productions (Chillin’ With Lovespirals and Chillcast Video Edition).

Anji has been involved with music from an early age, and with her partner, Ryan Lum, has been part of the groundbreaking group Lovespirals for a decade now. The duo have produced 3 full-length albums, and their fourth, Future Past, is nearly ready for release. You can learn more about the album on the latest episode of Chillin’ With Lovespirals.

Anji Bee’s creative pace is truly astounding, contributing guest vocals on other artists’ albums, collaborating with other podcasters for their productions, producing remixes, and all the while keeping up with her own podcast productions and writing and recording with Lovespirals. When we asked how she does it all, she said “Sometimes I wonder myself. I think the key is being obsessed, really. Music is basically my life; it’s my passion and reason for being. And I’m a perfectionist. Add that to my inherited workaholic ethic, and voila!”

We also asked Anji what she found most challenging about taking a successful audio program and adapting it to video. “Probably the fact that I couldn’t attain the same high level of quality with video, being as that I was completely new to it and didn’t have any gear. I was basically inpsired to do video when I got my first iMac with the iSight camera. Lighting is always very tricky and I still feel that there are improvements that could be made in that regard, but the viewers don’t seem to mind, so I try not to worry about it too much. Also, believe it or not, I’m actually a little camera shy. I had a hard time being natural on video at first. I think I’ve grown quite a bit, in that department.”

When asked how involvement with the promotional opportunities through MEVIO have impacted her productions and career, Anji responded. “I’ve had some really interesting and fun opportunities come up with advertisers through Mevio. One of the first ones that comes to mind is the Earthlink campaign, where people were encouraged to come up with their own ads. I was thrilled to be chosen as one of the winners. Then there was the podcast I created for Tylenol PM, called Unwind. That was really popular; in fact I still have people asking me when I’ll bring that show back!”

Anji’s passion for music and her unique style and attitude have made her a favorite with peers and fans alike. We’ll continue to look for more great things from Anji in the years to come.

Mac users listen up! Roku has released a Netflix player for your TV. Until now, PC users had the advantage with the Netflix account, having access to over 10,000 movies titles online. Mac users, myself included, had to either borrow our roommates computers or use special software (in my case Parallels).

Roku allows for instant viewing of Netflix movies right on your TV. Physically, the Roku is perfect: small, black, simple, and quiet. It is approximately the size of your average hardcover book. The black color matches with most entertainment electronic devices. I like the fact that there are no flashy buttons or blinking lights like my DVD player.

Since the Roku only streams Netflix videos from the internet and does not download the video, there is no hardrive built in; therefore, no fan. I’m sure we can all relate how annoying the fans of our laptops can be while we’re trying to watch a movie or fall asleep at night.

Netflix subscribers, Roku serves its purpose and is a good purchase for your entertainment needs if you are a movies fan. We should soon see competitors products hitting the market soon, and it will be exciting to see what additional innovations are made.

For those who are not subscribers to Netflix yet, get a great deal on your membership with our Netflix coupon codes. Memberships are as low as $4.99/month.
