Roku
October 14, 2008 – 11:28 amMac users listen up! Roku has released a Netflix player for your TV. Until now, PC users had the advantage with the Netflix account, having access to over 10,000 movies titles online. Mac users, myself included, had to either borrow our roommates computers or use special software (in my case Parallels).
Roku allows for instant viewing of Netflix movies right on your TV. Physically, the Roku is perfect: small, black, simple, and quiet. It is approximately the size of your average hardcover book. The black color matches with most entertainment electronic devices. I like the fact that there are no flashy buttons or blinking lights like my DVD player.
Since the Roku only streams Netflix videos from the internet and does not download the video, there is no hardrive built in; therefore, no fan. I’m sure we can all relate how annoying the fans of our laptops can be while we’re trying to watch a movie or fall asleep at night.
Netflix subscribers, Roku serves its purpose and is a good purchase for your entertainment needs if you are a movies fan. We should soon see competitors products hitting the market soon, and it will be exciting to see what additional innovations are made.
For those who are not subscribers to Netflix yet, get a great deal on your membership with our Netflix coupon codes. Memberships are as low as $4.99/month.
