Their first studio album, Silent Alarm, was released in 2005, receiving widespread acclaim. Silent Alarm reached #3 in the UK Albums Chart and was voted the 2005 NME Album of the Year. Two years later, Bloc Party released A Weekend in the City. The album entered the UK Album Chart at #2 and in the US at #12.

Bloc Party’s single “Banquet”, video below, reached #13 in NME’s Top 50 singles of 2005. “Banquet” is Bloc Party’s signature song – the best thing in the band’s early career. Kele’s vocals accompanied with a jumpy bass and drums provides a mixture of post-punk, British pop that’s sure to have you dancing to the beat!
