Global domain registration leader GoDaddy has expanded its operations into Canada, the first non US office location for the company.

In addition to the physical expansion, GoDaddy will, from August 2008, be registering Canadian .ca domains for the first time.

Barbara Rechterman, executive vice president of Go Daddy:

We’ve done some market research, with customers and non-customers, that took us to Canada … It’s a good test market, it’s close and it just seemed right.

GoDaddy’s success is based around its unique promotional activities, including sometimes controversial advertising campaigns, and the liberal use of special discount coupon codes.

When you register a domain name, your personal registration details are available for anyone to look up as the registrant of the domain name. This may not be much of a problem for an online business, but with identity theft a real threat today, you may not want personal details such as name, email and full address made available to anyone who looks up your domain’s details.

Private registration

Individuals who register domain names can have their details kept private with ‘private registrations’. The majority of domain registrars charge an additional fee per domain per year for this privacy.

GoDaddy.com, like other registrars, gives you a private registration option with an additional charge. But if you purchase five or more domain names in a single order – using one of our special GoDaddy coupon codes, of course – you will get free private registration for each of your domains.

What data is visible on a domain?

Domain details are stored by registrars in databases that are accessed by services called Whois. These Whois services are what you can use to look up the registrant details of domain names. Try this Whois lookup for Google.com.

Scroll down the page of the Whois result and you’ll see names, addresses, emails, and even telephone numbers. These kinds of details are mandatory when you register a domain. Without private domain registration, anyone can perform a Whois lookup and find you personal details.

GoDaddy.com coupon codes

GoDaddy is the world’s larges domain registrar and provides a host of internet and web services. You can use our coupon discount codes to save money on whatever you want to buy at GoDaddy.com

When you are struggling to get the exact domain name you want, the Domain Name Aftermarket might just be the place for you to shop.

Unwanted, soon to expire domains are often sold or auctioned at The Domain Name Aftermarket (tdnam.com). The aftermarket lists a broad range of domains for sale, from very valuable and expensive domains going for hundreds or even thousands of dollars, to a large number of domains from as little as $5.

There are literally hundreds of domains up for sale at any time. Do a search and there’s a good chance that you will find several possible domains which match your search words. Some of these may be the perfect domain for you, so all you do is place a bid and wait for the auction to end. Once ended, it can take a few days for the domain to become officially yours. You will also need to register at tdnam.com in order to purchase domain listed there, but it is a very small annual fee, which then enables you to make multiple purchases an even sell any domains you no longer require.
So if you want to buy or want to list a domain name for sale, just pop over to tdnam.com.

GoDaddy, the world’s largest domain registrar, increased its price for .com domain registrations to $9.99, an effective increase of $1.04. Wholesale prices of .com domains were raised on October 14 and so GoDaddy decided to increase their price to their customers accordingly.

This increase means that GoDaddy’s .com discount coupon codes are even better value. Domain coupon codes bring the .com purchase price down to $6.95 – that’ over 40% off the full price.

You can find our own GoDaddy discount codes here – and if you are in the UK, you can use these codes.
